The Ohio Dept. of Health has also added an additional immunization ( a total of 2 shots) for students entering the 7th grade. Currently your child is required to get a Tdap shot (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pe1tussis) to begin their 7th grade year. Also in addition, your child will need a Meningococcal vaccine (meningitis). A second dose of Meningococcal vaccine will be needed before their 12th grade school year. This second dose of the Meningococcal will be given after age 16. In summary, for your child to BEGIN the 7th grade school year, both a Tdap and a Meningococcal vaccines are required.
